ABC Bank loses bid to stop DCI investigation into Sh200 million loan

The High Court dismissed ABC Bank’s bid to stop the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from pursuing a fresh criminal probe into a disputed Sh200 million loan. Investigators are examining allegations that borrower Mohammed Aden Barre and his wife did not sign the documents supporting the 2012 loan. The probe also concerns the bank’s subsequent sale of two properties used as security.

94-year-old woman tied up during Kenridge house robbery

A 94-year-old woman was tied up in her backyard during a robbery in Kenridge, Cape Town, on Saturday, October 31, between 3:30pm and 4:30pm. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Frederick van Wyk said the suspect stole a laptop and two cellphones; no arrests have been made. The attack followed a robbery in Aurora on October 30, in which four suspects tied up an adult man and woman and stole iPhones, jewellery and a wallet.
