Abidjan-Bamako: Vassiriki Traoré invited by Modibo Koné, Malian intelligence chief

On October 15, 2026, Vassiriki Traoré, the head of Ivorian intelligence, will visit Bamako for a meeting with Modibo Koné, director general of Mali's National Security Agency. Modibo Koné, considered an influential member of the military group in power since 2020, is a key figure in the security cooperation between the two countries. Relations between Abidjan and Bamako, strained since Mali's coups, appear to be warming with this visit. Securing the Abidjan-Bamako corridor, vital for regional stability, remains a shared priority amid ongoing jihadist threats.
