Abidjan-Lagos Corridor: Togo proposes reducing project cost to $10 billion

At the 23rd ministerial steering committee meeting in Lomé on October 30, 2026, Sani Yaya proposed revising the financing of the Abidjan-Lagos highway, initially estimated at $15 billion, to bring the cost down to $13 billion or even $10 billion. Togo also recommends a financial equalization mechanism to share costs among the five states according to the profitability of their sections, and calls for the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Management Authority (ALCoMA) to become operational. The planned 1,028-kilometre, six-lane highway will connect Abidjan, Accra, Lomé, Cotonou and Lagos and support regional trade and logistics.
