Abidjan: Two Guinean Political Exiles Say Farewell

Sidya Touré, former Prime Minister of Guinea and president of the Union of Republican Forces, died in Paris on September 25, 2026. From exile in Abidjan, Cellou Dalein Diallo paid tribute to his former ally and fellow opposition leader, highlighting his distinguished career as a technocrat and statesman. The two, who were allies in the 2010 presidential runoff and co-founders of the Political Parties Collective, ended up in exile in Abidjan after facing harassment, asset seizures, removal from electoral rolls, and dissolution of their parties. Diallo recalled their joint efforts in economic reforms and diplomatic missions to strengthen Guinea’s relations with international institutions, emphasizing their close ideological ties and shared commitment.
