Accidents in Louga: 41 deaths and over 1,000 incidents in six months

In the Louga region, 1,068 accidents were recorded in the first half of 2026, resulting in 41 deaths, according to ANASER and the Gendarmerie. Of these, 381 accidents were reported by the Police and 687 by the Gendarmerie. Road checks involved 275 vehicles, with 115 violations mainly for speeding and dangerous overtaking, alongside increased awareness campaigns on traffic rules. Authorities aim to strengthen education and enforcement to reduce risky behaviors on the roads.
