Accountability Mechanism for Law Enforcement Agencies in Tanzania

The accountability of law enforcement agencies in Tanzania is crucial within the public administration system, especially in light of human rights violations. The Commission on Human Rights and Good Governance (CHRAGG) monitors violations and can initiate judicial proceedings in cases of non-compliance. However, its activities face limitations due to reduced funding and challenges related to the cases considered. The Bureau for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption (PCCB) is also involved, but its effectiveness is hindered by a lack of transparency and citizens' reluctance to file complaints.
