The Coalition of Human Rights Defenders notified police that it plans a peaceful demonstration in Nairobi on Monday, October 26, over high fuel prices and their impact on the cost of living. The march is set to start on Kimathi Street in the CBD and proceed to State House, with organisers expecting 500 to 900 participants. The announcement follows a protest on the same street on October 20, during which Citizen TV journalist Odee Francis was briefly arrested. For the October-November cycle, EPRA set Nairobi pump prices at Ksh226.96 per litre for petrol, Ksh227.76 for diesel and Ksh219.87 for kerosene.
