Adhere strictly to safety measures - SEMA warns canoe users in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has warned boat users across the state to strictly observe safety measures, especially during strong winds and adverse weather conditions. Executive Secretary Hannafi Yakubu commented on recent incidents, including the death of four girls when a boat capsized near Dudduru Lake and another incident in Ringim Local Government Area that claimed 10 lives. The agency attributed these accidents to overloading and the use of old boats. The government is working to support boat owners with new vessels and life jackets to minimize accidents.
