Admiral Nakhimov: Russia Confirms the Return of the Nuclear Cruiser that Worried NATO During the Soviet Era

The Russian nuclear cruiser Admiral Nakhimov completed its sea trials at the end of August 2026 and is expected to join the Russian Navy by the end of the year. After nearly three decades of being docked at the Sevmash shipyard, the vessel was relaunched in July 2025. It is equipped with 176 vertical launch cells for cruise and hypersonic missiles, and its return could serve a deterrent role in the conflict in Ukraine.
