Adopt Obi as consensus candidate, group tells opposition committee

The Igbo Heroes and Icons Foundation (IHIF) has urged the opposition parties' committee to adopt Peter Obi, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, as the consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The foundation cited Obi's competence and integrity, along with his prudent financial management as governor of Anambra State, as reasons he is the most qualified candidate to lead Nigeria. IHIF also pointed out that the South-East has not produced an elected president since 1999, describing this as an imbalance that should be addressed for national unity.
