ADP Crisis Deepens as Spokesman Disputes Sani’s Suspension

The crisis within the Action Democratic Party (ADP) has deepened after National Publicity Secretary Dr Sani Dawop disputed the reported interim suspension of National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani. Dawop says Sani, whose mandate was renewed at the party’s May 29–30, 2026 convention, remains its duly elected chairman and that allegations of forgery, financial impropriety and interference with INEC’s nomination portal are unsubstantiated. National Secretary Victor Fingesi had announced Sani’s suspension, saying it was approved by members of the National Working Committee. Dawop says the November 4 emergency meeting instead considered disciplinary action against Fingesi, including an interim suspension from his secretary duties and an investigation to be referred to the National Executive Committee for ratification.
