Meeting in Ouagadougou on October 16, 2026, the AES ministerial steering committee agreed on a common mandate ahead of the first formal consultations with ECOWAS, scheduled for Dakar on October 17 and 18. The talks are to preserve the sovereignty of member states, consolidate the AES Confederation, and protect the interests of its populations. Ministers Traoré, Diop, and Sangaré will lead the delegation. The free movement of people and goods is among the priorities, as the discussions aim to define new institutional and legal arrangements between the two blocs.
