“She threw it in the garbage”: A Congolese woman’s shocking act in Ouest-Foire

A 26-year-old Congolese student, identified by the initials B. O., was referred to the Dakar prosecutor’s office on charges of child suppression and desecration of a newborn’s corpse. Searches at the waste drop-off point and the Mbeubeuss landfill did not find the body. After receiving medical care, she was taken into custody and brought before the prosecutor.

The investigation is ongoing; the opposition alleges a trap, authorities reject the accusations, and the city’s official death toll lists no fatalities.
