AfDB approves CFA53.3 billion loan to irrigate 618 hectares in Demsa, Bibémi and Poli in Cameroon

On July 13, 2026, the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved a loan of €81.2 million (about CFA53.3 billion) to build three hill reservoirs and develop 618 hectares of irrigated land in northern Cameroon. With the state's contribution of €7.54 million (CFA4.95 billion), the total cost of the first phase of the Agro-Industry Development Program in the Septentrion (PDAS-1) reaches €88.74 million (CFA58.2 billion). The infrastructure, located in Demsa, Bibémi and Poli, will support agro-sylvo-pastoral activities and maintain production during the dry season.
