Africa: Aliko Dangote Officially Launches New Pipeline Between Djibouti and Ethiopia

A new oil pipeline connecting Djibouti to Ethiopia was officially launched on September 24, 2026, at Damerjog, led by Dangote Group and Ethiopian Investment Holdings. The project includes approximately 120 kilometers of pipelines and a storage terminal costing around 160 million dollars, with a total capacity of about 1.175 million cubic meters at both ends. The pipeline is expected to be operational within 18 months, aiming to lower logistics costs and improve energy supply security for Ethiopia, which relies heavily on Djibouti for maritime trade.
