Africa Sports are sluggish, but Gouaméné remains calm

Abidjan’s Africa Sports drew 1-1 with AS Athletic d’Adjamé on November 1, 2026, at the Robert-Champroux stadium in the fifth round of Ligue 2. Trailing from the 26th minute, the Aiglons equalized in the 88th after losing 0-2 to AS Denguélé in the previous round. After five matches, the team has two wins, two draws and one defeat, earning eight of a possible 15 points; some supporters have criticized the 3-5-2 system. Coach Maxime Gouaméné defended the formation and said he was not worried, noting that the league season is still long.
