After Gen Z, India’s Gen Alpha rises, demanding education reforms

In Samuhi Bhatpurwa, Uttar Pradesh, 122 students at a government primary school staged a strike on August 22 to demand the construction of a new school building promised by authorities. The children, some as young as six, refused to enter their classrooms due to the dilapidated state of their school, where a wall collapsed in 2023, severely injuring a girl. After a visit from an education department official, the students received assurance that a new building would be constructed, prompting them to return home.
