After the Withdrawal of AFC-M23: Villages in Walikale Still Deserted

More than ten days after the withdrawal of AFC/M23 troops, the villages of Mpety and Minjenje in the Walikale territory remain nearly deserted. According to Julien Buunda from the Inter-Farmer Framework for Conflict Transformation in Pinga, some residents are beginning to return, but the health center in Mpety, which was completely destroyed, urgently needs rehabilitation. Clashes since October 2024 had caused a massive displacement of the population to safer areas.
