Agnes Wanjiru’s family has condemned the postponement until May 2027 of the extradition hearing for Robert James Purkiss, a former British soldier accused of killing the young Kenyan mother in 2012. Relatives, who had arranged to travel to the UK for the hearing scheduled next month, say they learned of the delay through the British embassy and received no official explanation. Purkiss, arrested in the UK last November, is contesting extradition and denies the allegation. Wanjiru’s body was found in a septic tank near a hotel in Nanyuki, and her family is urging authorities to expedite the proceedings.
