AI for School—and Its Red Flags: Ecobank Day Explains Them to Students

Nearly 300 girls aged 11 to 16 from three schools in Cocody, Yopougon and Bouaké took part in Ecobank Day, themed “Transforming Africa through Education.” The Ecobank Foundation aims to build their digital skills and teach them to use artificial intelligence without becoming dependent on it or copying its answers. Speakers outlined four risks: AI can make mistakes, threaten privacy, reflect bias and cannot replace human intelligence; students were urged to verify sources. The program provides six laptops, one year of unlimited internet access and AI support for students and teachers; similar initiatives in 2025 created 66 computer labs and reached 46,414 young people in sub-Saharan Africa.
