African airlines saw a 3% increase in air freight demand in August compared to the previous year, while their capacity surged by 14%, the highest regional increase, leading to a 3.9-point drop in the load factor to 36.5%. Globally, demand rose by 4.4%, with a slight 0.1% decrease in capacity; Africa accounted for 2.1% of the global air freight market in 2025, with growth lagging behind North America (+6.6%), Latin America and the Caribbean (+5.1%), and Asia-Pacific (+4.3%). The Africa-Asia corridor experienced an 11.9% decline, while Asia-North America trade increased by 13.2%.
