Airbus: 250 A321neo in service affected by a corrosion-prone defect

Approximately 250 Airbus A321neo aircraft in service are affected by a manufacturing anomaly confirmed on September 24 by Airbus. The issue involves the surface treatment of certain stringers in the lower fuselage area, which could reduce their corrosion protection over time. Airbus has identified the cause, prepared corrective measures, and states that the defect poses no safety risk, with no plans to immobilize the affected aircraft. Nearly half of the planes have already been delivered, while 250 more in the production system need correction before or during assembly.
