Akil Howson to make history as first black FA Cup final official

Akil Howson will become the first black official to participate in an FA Cup final when Chelsea faces Manchester City on May 16. The 35-year-old assistant referee, attached to the Leicestershire & Rutland Football Association, has been appointed for the match at Wembley Stadium. Darren England, officiating for the first time at this occasion, will be the referee, assisted by Tim Wood and Sam Barrott. Peter Bankes will handle the VAR duties.
