Algeria: Benbouali scores, then suffers injury in emotional roller coaster

Nadhir Benbouali scored for Pyramids against Al-Merrikh Bentiu in the second preliminary round of the African Champions League, five minutes after coming on in the 66th minute. He left injured around the 77th minute, and Pyramids, having used all their substitutions, finished with ten players despite winning 4-0. The initial diagnosis was a hamstring tear, with further tests needed to establish its severity and recovery time. The injury, his third in about 70 days, makes it highly unlikely he will join Algeria’s November camp and delays his return to the national team.
