Algeria: Former favorite for Petkovic's successor, Felix Sanchez appointed coach of… 97th in FIFA rankings

Félix Sánchez, a former candidate for the Algerian national team coaching position, has been appointed as Bahrain's head coach, two months after being close to securing the role in Algeria. The Bahrain Football Federation announced his appointment to lead the team during the 2027 Asian Cup, replacing Dragan Talajic. His profile was once considered a favorite by the FAF, but the bid ultimately failed due to concerns over his group management and communication. Bahrain, ranked 97th in the FIFA standings, is a familiar environment for Sánchez, who previously led Qatar to the Asian title in 2019.
