Algeria: “Give the ball to Messi…” Zorgane responds to criticism of his statistics

After a month out with an injury sustained while with Algeria, Adem Zorgane returned on Saturday as Union Saint-Gilloise beat Beveren 2-1. The 26-year-old midfielder, whose contract has been extended through 2031, has scored once and provided one assist this season, following a previous campaign with four goals and nine assists. He says his contribution cannot be measured by statistics alone and will not change his style, pointing to his role in setting the tempo, creating chances and keeping the team composed. Based in Belgium since 2021, he has played 60 matches for Union since joining in 2025, scoring five goals and recording ten assists.
