Algeria: “I was among the finalists and excited,” Gustavo Poyet recounts the FAF’s approach for the post-Petkovic era

Gustavo Poyet confirmed to Afrik-Foot that he received an offer to coach Algeria after Vladimir Petkovic’s departure. The former Al-Khaleej manager said the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) was also negotiating with two or three other candidates and told him he was among the finalists. Excited by the prospect, Poyet had begun studying the team and its schedule, but the FAF ultimately opted for an internal solution by appointing Brahim Hemdani.
