Algeria: President Tebboune Orders Penal Code Amendment to Introduce Death Penalty With Immediate Execution

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered an amendment to the Penal Code by September 15 to establish the death penalty with immediate execution for individuals involved in arson. During a meeting, he also instructed governors of affected provinces to provide information to security services, revealing that several suspects had already been arrested. Additionally, assessment commissions will be established to determine the extent of the damage caused by the wildfires.
