On Thursday at Sidi Moussa, a technical committee met to discuss the fate of Vladimir Petkovic, weakened after Algeria's elimination in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup against Switzerland (0-2). Three options are on the table: either Petkovic leaves with a reduced compensation, he receives his full salary (5 million euros), or he stays but with a modified technical staff including Algerian assistants. Walid Sadi, president of the FAF and Minister of Sports, chaired the meeting, but no final decision has been made.
