Alleged phone-tapping: Court rejects El-Rufai’s no-case submission

The Federal High Court in Abuja rejected former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai’s no-case submission in his trial over the alleged interception of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu’s phone communications. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled that the evidence presented by the Department of State Services (DSS) was sufficient to require El-Rufai to enter his defence if he chooses. The DSS pointed to an exhibit that prosecutors say contains El-Rufai’s alleged admission regarding the interception. The prosecution closed its case after calling two witnesses.
