Amadou Bâ’s revelations: “They received up to 50 million CFA francs per month”

Pastef lawmaker Amadou Bâ claims that some former presidents of Senegal’s Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) received up to 50 million CFA francs per month, but he did not name them, specify the period or clarify what the sums included. No documents have been made public to substantiate the figure, and the former officials could not be reached for comment. His remarks follow National Assembly President Ousmane Sonko’s announcement of proposals to establish five parliamentary inquiry commissions, including one examining special funds managed by the Prime Minister’s Office, the High Council of Territorial Authorities and the CESE from 2012 to 2026. Bâ also accuses the “SYSTEM” of mobilizing allies to block the inquiries; if established, the commissions will have to determine whether the amounts are accurate and what their basis was.
