Ambiguity Surrounding the Release of 5,000 FARDC Soldiers by M23

The M23 rebel movement claims to have released over 5,000 soldiers from the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and handed them over to the Red Cross for transfer to Kinshasa. However, this announcement, made in mid-March, lacks tangible evidence and confirmation from the International Committee of the Red Cross. Political actors on the ground believe that this promise from the rebel group, supported by Rwanda, has yet to materialize.
