American Airlines Resumes Flights to Haiti

American Airlines resumed daily nonstop service between Miami and Cap-Haïtien on November 1, 2026, restoring a direct air link to northern Haiti. Inaugural flight AA2492 was operated by a Boeing 737 with an all-Haitian, Creole-speaking crew led by Captain Oliver Jean, a former director of the country’s Civil Aviation Authority. The airline had suspended Miami–Port-au-Prince flights in November 2024 after bullet damage was found on an aircraft; FAA restrictions around the capital remain in effect through March 2, 2027. Port-au-Prince therefore remains largely cut off by air, while the U.S. State Department continues to classify Haiti as Level 4, “Do Not Travel.”

NiDCOM says the banks hold 37.2% of deposits in The Gambia’s banking sector and provide 90% of the funding for the National Water and Electricity Company, NAWEC. Commission chief Abike Dabiri-Erewa urged the central bank to reverse the directive and consult Nigeria’s High Commission in Banjul, citing existing contracts and ECOWAS free-movement protocols.
