American company KoBold Metals has begun exploration activities to locate lithium deposits in the southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with an expected investment of $50 million by 2027. This project follows a mining partnership signed between the DRC and the United States. KoBold has obtained thirteen exploration permits and is using advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence. The company is also interested in the Manono lithium deposit, currently in discussions with AVZ Minerals Ltd.
