ANACIM warns of heavy rains across the country this weekend, Dakar under tension

ANACIM forecasts increased rainfall and thunderstorms from October 10 to 12, 2026, especially in Casamance, Saloum, Fatick, Kaolack, Mbour, Thiès, Diourbel, and Dakar. Last week, heavy rains caused deadly floods in Dakar, with up to 142 mm in 24 hours recorded in Rufisque. The already saturated soils may worsen with additional heavy rains, particularly in the capital and surrounding areas. Light to moderate rains, sometimes with thunderstorms, are also expected in regions like Podor, Matam, and Bakel, with a warning for maritime users to exercise caution.
