Anambra Begins Rebuilding Failed Roads Ahead of Christmas

Contractors on major road projects in Anambra State have returned to rebuild damaged sections under a state government directive ahead of Christmas. The affected routes include Amawbia-Agulu-Ekwulobia-Uga, Agulu-Nnewi and Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija. Works Commissioner Okey Ezeobi blamed the failures on extreme rainfall and flooding, rather than substandard materials, and said contractors would carry out repairs at no cost to the state. Work includes removing asphalt and stabilising affected areas with cement to limit damage from underground water.
