The Presidency challenged Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, to honor his pledge to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race after the Anambra State Government disputed his claims of leaving the state without debts. Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, stated that Obi left behind unpaid loans and salary arrears. The Anambra government also revealed that outstanding external loans totaling 127.37 billion naira remain unpaid.
