ANC Youth League calls for DA ministers to be removed from GNU

ANC Youth League president Collen Malatji called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to remove all Democratic Alliance (DA) ministers from the Government of National Unity ahead of the November 4 local elections. At a press briefing in Johannesburg, Malatji accused the DA of destabilising the government and pursuing a racist agenda, while saying the EFF could join the GNU if it changed its approach. Political analyst Sandile Swana pointed to continuing disputes over black economic empowerment, land expropriation, national health insurance and economic policy. Tensions also rose after the Constitutional Court ordered the electoral commission to put 181 ANC candidates on the ballot.
