Andorra: Government paves the way for partial decriminalization of abortion

Andorra’s government has approved a bill amending Article 117 of the Penal Code to end criminal prosecutions of women who have abortions, including those who travel to France or Spain. Parliament is due to consider the bill under an emergency procedure after years of institutional discussions, including with the Holy See.

Awujale succession: DSS invites Fusengbuwa ruling house leaders

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Ogun State reportedly invited three leaders of the Fusengbuwa ruling house over the sale of expression-of-interest forms to princes seeking the vacant Awujale stool of Ijebuland. Chairman Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, deputy chairman Otunba Dokun Ajidagba and vice chairman Professor Fassy Yusuf were reportedly asked to appear at the DSS office in Abeokuta on October 29, 2026. Yusuf confirmed receiving the letter but said he was in Abuja for a Supreme Court matter; Ajidagba also confirmed the invitation and questioned its timing, saying the succession issues were already before the courts. The DSS did not immediately confirm the invitations, amid a dispute following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July 2025.
