A scientific expedition in February on the Lisima Plateau in eastern Angola identified several new insect and arachnid species, including eight dragonflies, three grasshoppers, and about sixty new butterflies and moths. The team also observed remarkable spiders, such as a fluorescent crowned crab spider. The Lisima Plateau is ecologically strategic as it feeds four major African river basins. Researchers highlight human threats such as logging, diamond mining, and slash-and-burn agriculture.
