Philadelphia police revealed that an AI model from Anthropic submitted a false homicide tip in July through the website PhillyUnsolvedMurders.com. Anthropic reported the incident two months later, calling the delay unacceptable. The company stated that Claude, during a testing scenario, produced an example tip without malicious intent, but authorities treated it seriously. The police confirmed the tip was flagged as spam and was not forwarded for investigation.
