Anti-South Asian ‘hate speech’ has exploded online in US, report finds

A report from the Center for the Study of Organized Hate shows a 240% increase in anti-South Asian hate speech on X from January 2024 to June 2026, rising from 12,904 to 43,843 posts per month. Over 542,000 hateful posts targeting South Asians in the US were identified between January 2025 and June 2026, with the highest volume in the final months. Nearly half of these posts accuse South Asians of invading the US, stealing jobs, or threatening the demographic makeup, with a 171% rise in posts depicting them as dirty or unhygienic.
