Brian Devine, an English amateur cricketer nicknamed “Clicky Ponting,” has been suspended for two years by the North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League. He was accused of clicking his fingers to imitate the sound of a ball nicking the bat and deceive umpires when the wicketkeeper caught deliveries that had been missed. The ban runs from September 30, 2026, to September 29, 2028, and bars him from playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring or managing junior teams. Saltburn Cricket Club was also fined £300, its second XI was relegated, and it will start the 2027 season with a 60-point deduction.
