AOC transfers $1m to Michigan candidate El-Sayed in progressive push

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez transferred $1m from her own campaign funds to support Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate candidate in Michigan. Announcing the donation on Friday, she said she wanted to counter attacks against El-Sayed, many of which have focused on his Muslim faith, Egyptian heritage and support for Palestine. Ocasio-Cortez has campaigned with him in the state, including on a tour of the Upper Peninsula and at events in Detroit. A Real Clear Politics average showed El-Sayed leading Republican Mike Rogers by 2.6 percentage points.
