The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Abuja South Federal Constituency was halted due to a standoff over the adoption of a consensus candidate, leaving thousands of party members stranded across four area councils. Negotiations among party leaders failed to produce a single candidate after three days of talks. Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri, an aspirant and outgoing Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman, blamed recent defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for pushing the consensus agenda.
