Appoint new Muslim Pilgrims Board chairman from unrepresented zones — Islamic scholars

A group of Islamic scholars in Osun State has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to appoint the next chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board from a zone that has never held the position. The letter, dated October 9, 2026, warns against extending the current chairman Dr Moruf Isola's tenure beyond 2026 to ensure fairness and inclusiveness. The controversy arose after the Osun League of Imams and Alfas supported a proposal for Isola, from Osogbo, to remain until 2030, but the Supreme Council of Islamic Scholars rejected this, emphasizing that other zones such as Iwo, Ijesa, and others have yet to produce a chairman.
