Aramoko appeals to Ooni to intervene in Alara selection

The Alara-in-Council and residents of Aramoko-Ekiti in Ekiti State have asked the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, to urge Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to let the kingmakers resume the selection of a new Alara. The process began in April 2026, and three princes were shortlisted following an Ifa consultation conducted by Baba Araba Elebuibon; a vote by the 12 kingmakers ended in a six-six tie. The selection has been suspended for about six months after the Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs postponed the exercise, leaving the throne vacant and disrupting traditional festivals and rites.
