Are the UK and France being pulled into the Saudi-Houthi conflict?

France and the United Kingdom are preparing military deployments to Saudi Arabia as the kingdom’s conflict with the Houthis in Yemen escalates. Paris has begun sending assets under a previously announced agreement, after Emmanuel Macron pledged troops and air-defence systems to help protect the Houthi-targeted port of Yanbu. London announced on Tuesday that it plans to deploy Typhoon fighter jets, with both countries describing their support as defensive. Analysts say the moves could protect Saudi oil exports and strengthen deterrence, but may also draw the two countries further into the conflict.
