Armed attack, 40 million taken: How Peillin Li finally succumbed to his injuries in Dakar

Peillin Li, a Chinese national, died on August 26, 2026, at the Principal Hospital in Dakar after being a victim of an armed attack at a gold mining site near Kéniéba, Mali. Three Chinese individuals were shot during this attack, and despite efforts to rescue them, Peillin Li did not survive his injuries. The Faidherbe research brigade is investigating the circumstances of this attack.
