Armed with a whistle, Gaza’s lifeguards do what they can to save swimmers

Gaza’s lifeguards, including Ahmed Abu Haseira, monitor swimmers along the coast during the summer, providing relief to Palestinians from the heat and the hardships of war. After losing his family in an Israeli attack, Abu Haseira returned to work despite lacking equipment. About 120 lifeguards are employed along the beaches, relying mainly on their eyes and voices to keep swimmers safe.
